After a roller-coaster career as a pioneer of the smartphone industry – including co-founding Symbian in 1998 – David Wood is now a sought-after futurist speaker, analyst, commentator, and writer.

His background is in envisioning, designing, architecting, implementing, and avidly using smart mobile devices. This includes ten years with PDA manufacturer Psion PLC, ten more with smartphone operating system specialist Symbian Ltd, and three years as CTO (Technology Planning Lead) for Accenture Mobility. Whilst at Accenture, David co-led the company’s Mobility Health business initiative.

He is the author or lead editor of six books, including “Anticipating 2025”, “Smartphones and Beyond”, and, most recently, “The Abolition of Aging: The forthcoming radical extension of healthy human longevity”.

In 2009 he was included in T3’s list of “100 most influential people in technology”.

David is also chair of London Futurists, a non-profit organisation with over 5,500 members, which hosts regular meetups to explore technoprogressive scenarios.

He has an MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University and an honorary doctorate in science from the University of Westminster. He is a Fellow of the IEET (Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technology), Secretary of the International Humanity Organisation, and Executive Director of Transpolitica.
